June 2009 Quests
Monkey Road Trip 2009!

Each new Quest will be announced at midnight on the night before the Quest begins.
  • The end of our Road Trip is Here! We're stopping in China and we'll be visiting the lighthouse at Houyu (Monkey Island)! http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/chn8.htm
      • To earn the Houyu (Monkey Island) Lighthouse flag, you must receive at least 5000 in tournament winnings. You must do this between June 28th and June 30th.
  • Now it's off to the Monkey Mia Resort in Australia! We're going to feed the dolphins and might even get to swim with them! http://www.monkeymia.com.au/site/
      • To earn the With the Dolphins at Monkey Mia flag, you must spend at least 9000 in tournament fees. You must do this between June 25th and June 27th.
  • Now it's off to Costa Rica for the Monkeys! We're going to learn to surf at the Funky Monkey Lodge in beautiful Santa Teresa, Costa Rica! http://www.funky-monkey-lodge.com/
    • To earn the Surfing at Funky Monkey Lodge flag, you must play at least 15 league ("Monkey") games in at least 2 different leagues. You must do this between June 22nd and June 24th.

    • To earn the Snorkeling at Monkey Point flag, you must play in at least 2 tournaments with fees of at least 5000 and at least 4 tournaments with fees of at least 1100. You must do this between June 14th to June 16th.
    • We're off to Merigold, Mississippi, to one of the remaining "juke joints" in the world. We're going to hang out at Po' Monkey's Lounge for a few days to relax a little! Go here to learn more about it: http://www.southernspaces.org/contents/2006/brown/1a.htm
      • To earn the Po' Monkey's Lounge flag, you must play in at least 6 different tournaments with fees from 10-50, in at least 6 different leagues. You must do this between June 11th to June 13th.
    • Now we're traveling to Oregon. We're going to climb The Monkey Face in Smith Rock Park. You can even stand in the "Monkey's Mouth"!! Learn more about it at http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_51.php?md=pic
      • To earn the "Climbing The Monkey Face" flag, you must place 1st to 4th in at least 6 tournaments between June 7th to June 10th.
    • We're going to hear the classic rock, dance and pop stylings of The Cocktail Monkeys playing in Pleasanton, California on June 6th. Learn more about the band at http://www.thecocktailmonkeys.com/index.htm
      • This is a one day quest, June 6th only. To earn the "I Heard The Cocktail Monkeys Play" flag, you must play in at least 3 Gin tournaments on the 6th.
    • We're canoeing through Monkey Lake in the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia. We'll see alligators and lots of swamp! To learn more about this place: http://library.fws.gov/refuges/okefenokee02.pdf
      From June 4th to 5th, play in at least 5 tournaments with fees of 50 or more to earn the Canoeing Through Monkey Lake flag (no DQs).
    Have fun on our Road Trip! These are actual "Monkey" places all around the world.

    Because we got a late start unveiling the Quests this month, we are allowing credit for everything already achieved this month. These quests are retroactive to the first of the month, so if you met the challenge it counts.

    June 1st - 3rd
    		 The Monkey Festival Quest - Visit The Monkey Festival on Monkeys' Island in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The actual festival is happening on June 1st. Play in at least 7 different tourneys, in at least 3 different leagues with fees of 20 Coins or more.

    June 4th - 7th
    		 The Snow Monkey Challenge - Visit the original hot tubbing monkeys in Jigokudani Monkey Park in Japan. Play in at least 7 different tourneys, with fees of 1700 or more AND get at least 1 active referral (active means must play at least 1 league game or in 1 tournament).
    June 8th - 9th


    		 The Frothy Monkey Coffeehouse - Visit the Frothy Monkey Coffeehouse in Ruston, Louisiana. Receive at least 2000 in tournament winnings.

    		 The Kung Fu Monkey Challenge - Take a Monkey Kung Fu Class at the Temple of the Monkey in Astoria, New York! Spend at least 7500 in tournament fees.

    		 The Go Bananas 5k Run Challenge - Run off all those banana splits in the Go Bananas 5k Run at the Banana Split Festival in Wilmington, Ohio! Play in at least 10 tournaments with fees of at least 75.

    		 The Monkey Hut Hotel Quest - Relax on the beach at the Monkey Hut Hotel at Apoyo Lagoon in Nicaragua! Play in at least 3 Double Elimination, 3 Swiss, 2 1v1, and 2 2v2 tournaments (check format column in tourney listings).

    June 21st-24th

    		 The Monkey Falls Quest - Visit and splash around at Monkey Falls in Coimbatore, India! Spend at least 10,000 in tourney fees AND play in at least 8 tournaments in at least 5 different leagues (10,000 in fees can come from these tournaments).

    June 25th-27th

    		 The Monkey LaLa Quest - Come have the drink of the month, the Monkey LaLa, at the Sundowner Bar in Honduras! Play at least 10 league games in at least 2 different leagues (Monkey games, not tournaments).

    June 28th-30th

    		 The Brass Monkey Kayak Race Challenge - Come race the Waimakariri River in New Zealand in a kayak! Place 1st to 4th in at least 3 tournaments.

    This is a combination Road Trip/Amazing Race. Each quest is a different destination/leg in the vacation. Pay very close attention to the dates.

    The first 50 members to complete each quest will receive a special flag in place of the regular flag.
    June 1st-3rd The Skunk Ape Festival Quest
    • Play in at least 7 different tournaments, in at least 3 different leagues with fees 20 or more.

    June 4th-7th Monkey Reef Quest .

    Play in at least 6 different tournaments in any of the following leagues: Canasta, Gin, Spades or Cribbage with fees of 2500+.

    January 1-31 Castle Conquerer
    Place in the Bux (1st or 2nd) in any 10 tournaments any entry fee, in any number of leagues between Jan 1st - 31st.
    January 1-15 Swiss Challenge
    Play in 15, Swiss tournaments in any league or combination of leagues, with entry fees of 1500 Coins or more between Jan 1st-15th.
    January 16-31 Double Elimination Challenge Play in 15 Double Elimination tournaments in any league or combination of leagues with entry fees of 1500 Coins or more, between Jan 16th-31th.
